We’ve brought a set of giant wooden dominoes to the lawn at Symonds Yat Rock Café, perfect for families, friends, or anyone who loves a classic challenge in the fresh air. These oversized pine dominoes are easy to handle, fun for all ages, and a great way to unwind and play.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or learning for the first time, it’s a simple game to pick up and play.
How to Play Giant Dominoes
- Shuffle and Draw
Lay all 28 dominoes face down and mix them up. Each player draws:- 7 tiles for 2 players
- 5–6 tiles for 3–4 players
Keep your tiles hidden!
- Start the Game
The player with the highest double (like double-six) places it in the centre to begin the game. - Taking Turns
Players take turns matching one end of the chain with a tile from their hand that shares the same number of dots.
Doubles are placed crosswise and open up new directions for the line. - No Play?
If you can’t make a move, you pass your turn. (Optional: agree to draw spare tiles for longer games.) - Winning
The first to play all their tiles wins. If the game gets blocked and no one can play, the player with the fewest dots left wins the round.
